Frankie has really started to get into board games, which is surprising to say he can’t sit still for more than 10 minutes. He really loves a game he can learn something at the same time, along with winning. He can get quite competitive so we decided to put his new skills to the test against the rocks!
“Are you dumber than a box of rocks?” is brought to you by the people at University Games. The game isn’t aimed or made for children of Frankie’s age but it didn’t stop him getting involved and surprising us all on his knowledge of sharks. The game is for ages 12 and up but as Frankie wanted to be involved we made some adjustments.
The game is really simple and is made for 2 players and more. The simple basis of the game is to have a question to you and you have to pick an answer from 1-3. Once you have chosen, the rocks in the box get jumbled around to show a number. The number on the rocks correlate to their answer. If you are right then you are smarter then a box of rocks. If you loose then you are dumber than a box of rocks.
There is a score chart with a small wooden person and a rock as counters, you move up the score chart every time you win and whoever gets to the finish first wins. Frankie was really impressed with this game as he immediately thought he could win as rocks don’t have a brain!
The game is fun for everyone to play and can really get everyone involved. The tension when waiting for the rocks to decide in the box can really mount up which is really fun.
Coming from a person that always manages to lose at board games I am excited to win this one. Also, any anger and frustration from losing the game aren’t directed to a person but rocks! What could be better? No need for a family feud at game night.
This is a great game for everyone to be involved in a game night, rainy day fun or just a little something to do on weekend away. Everyone can take part and you don’t have to study your general knowledge too much before taking part. Let me know in the comments below if you love board games and if you think this might be a good one for you to try out.
