I’ve loved Geo-caching for as long as I can remember, but I can’t always imagine it’s that fun for kids (especially after one or two finds…) which is why when I heard about Mardles Rocks I knew it was going to be a hit!
So, what is Mardles Rocks?
The idea is very simple to Geocaching, just with added AR and a little more emphasis on design and creativity – which in my opinion is what makes it perfect for kids!
In short, hide and or find decorated rocks and move or reside them for others to find.
However, what makes Mardles Rocks unique from other decorated rocks is the ability to add AR (augmented reality)
While you can find rocks in the majority of places – except on the beach, you can find them there but don’t take them as you can be fined up to £2,000!
Then you add the stickers.
Place your rock, and wait for someone to find it.
Unlike Geocaching there is no dedicated map as to where the ‘hidden treasure’ in this case rocks, are located. Instead, Mardles Rocks have set up a Facebook page and also encourage users to use other ‘rocking’ Facebook pages.
If your kids come to love Mardles Rocks AR abilities then consider purchasing some of the other Mardles products from their online store including; reading books, masks and colouring pages.
