Are you looking for the top PS4 accessories? Whether you’re new to the console or a die-hard fan, these accessories are going to help you take your game to the next level!
Despite being launched in 2013 (is it really that old) the Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) is still on everyone’s wishlist when it comes to gaming consoles. Now more than ever with the newly released PS4 Pro.
However, the console alone is almost never enough. There’s a whole range of accessories that can highly enhance your gameplay and your gaming experience.
However, the range of accessories each one being sold by a range of manufacturers and suppliers can easily become overwhelming for those who have little to no experience in the gaming field.
For this reason, we’ve created our list of the top PS4 accessories. Regardless of your budget or gaming profile, there’s something in this list for everyone!
Of course, games are essential when purchasing a PS4 console. Some consoles come as a bundle with a game or multiple games included, some retailers offer discounts on top-rated games when purchasing the console.
However, in some cases, the console will come alone and you’ll need to buy the games separate to start playing.
Some of our favourite family-friendly games for the PS4 include;
Overcooked is a chaotic couch co-op cooking game for one to four players.
Working as a team, you and your fellow chefs must prepare, cook and serve up a variety of tasty orders before the baying customers storm out in a huff.
Crash Bandicoot was one of my favourite games in the early ’90s to play on my PlayStation 1.
Suitable for ages 7 and over, this cult classic has been remastered and includes three games; Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot Warped – All of which are as addictive as ever!
Monopoly is here for a new era!
Play the classic game and watch the board come to life! A full 3D city at the centre of the board lives and evolves as you play. Play the way you want, change the rules and adapt them to your playing style.
If you love your board games then consider paying a little extra and getting the full Hasbro Family Fun Pack game for the PS4. It includes games such as Monopoly, Risk and Boggle.
Lego Harry Potter Collection
Lego has done incredibly well in cornering the gaming market and has a range of games partnered with mainstream films and franchises on various consoles.
Our favourite collection of Lego games for the PS4 is the Harry Potter collection.
These two game combo features content from the seven books and eight films with highly enhanced graphics, lightening and visual effects for a highly immersive experience.
If more than one person is likely to be playing the PlayStation at one time then an additional controller is likely to save an abundance of arguments.
There’s a variety of different PS4 controllers you can get. They include non-official ones by off branded companies and personalised ones designed specifically for the promotion of the game.
Once again to save on arguments I’d just look at picking up the standard black Sony PS4 wireless controller.
An off-brand may be cheaper but the quality isn’t nearly as good. Whereas a personalised one for the promotion of a game is likely to cost more due to its custom design.
Depending on whether the PS4 console is going to be used by one particular individual or the family you might consider getting a headset.
This is ideal for surround sound atmosphere for one player. Some headsets come with microphones built in to allow online chatter during gameplay.
The most common and popular brand of console headsets has to be Turtle beach. They have a range of headsets starting from £20 right up to £100.
The VR headset for the Playstation 4 was released in 2017, and has become one of the top PS4 accessories for gamers.
The headset allows you to immerse yourself in incredible virtual reality games and experiences.
Much like the console itself, the VR headset is available as a standalone with the camera – ideal if you’ve already got cames with VR capabilities.
Alternatively, the Mega Pack is available which includes the VR headset and camera alongside the most popular Playstation VR games on the market right now.
One thing is for sure, and that’s that the Playstation VR experience isn’t for everyone. I personally went on a demo experience during the lead up to its release and had horrible motion sickness.
PlayStation Plus is an online network allows you to play some games online against/with other players from around the world.
Purchase of a PlayStation Plus subscription comes in various forms including 3, 6 or 12 months. As with most subscriptions, it’s cheapest to buy for the entire year. Check out the video below to learn more about the benefits of a PlayStation Plus subscription.
PlayStation Plus provides users with access to the internet. Allowing them to communicate with people from around the world.
So if you’re unhappy with your child playing online then this is something to consider prior to purchasing.
There are some detailed instructions on how to set up parental controls for the PlayStation 4 should you wish to do so.
Controller Dock / Charger
As a family who owns two PlayStation controllers and plays on the PlayStation almost daily. Something we couldn’t live without is a Playstation controller dock/charger.
This helps to keep the controllers fully charged, and ready to play as soon as we need them.
It’s also a great dock, keeping the controllers and entire console area neat and tidy. The dock plugs into the mains and charges the controllers direct from there – so you don’t need the console turned on to charge.
If you’re wanting to get ‘next level’ organised when it comes to the gaming zone. Then consider purchasing this official Sony PS4 games tower and duel controller dock.
